Bohemian Czech 1960 Glass Bowl Vase Jardiniere Zelezny Brod Frantisek

Frantisek Zemek (1913-60) is arguably one of the lost great names in 20th century glass design, and was key to the development of hot-worked glass in Czechoslovakia. Starting his career as a glass cutter for the Inwald group, he went on to study at the Zelezny Brod glass school, and then under the renowned Professor Karel Stipl.

Produced in the 1960s by Skrdlovice. Designed by Frantisek Zemek, one of the great glass designers of the era. The ashtray is original, hand molded out of a heavy art glass of transparent glass in shades of blue and yellow. Excellent condition. This piece is attributed to the above-mentioned designer/maker.

This beautiful art glass bowl is trully one of a kind addition of the famous Czech glass production. It was designed by Frantisek Zemek for Mstisov glass union as a part of the Niagara series. It combines the rosaline pink with clear white glass, which is spiraled with a cobalt blue. All combined in what could seem like a natural shape, but it is well thought through art glass.

Hermann City 1896. Several glass factories are know to have existed in the Pine Barrens, among them were Crowleytown, Bulltown, Hermann City, Green Bank and Batsto. All were in operation in the mid 1800s taking advantage of the Mullica River for the transportation of their glass and the large amount of wood avalable for fuel.
